Hi guys! PC here. So, I once heard Dream Beauty say we could expect better art soon. Considering recent activity, I think that it's safe to assume this means the old bases are going to be updated. After I heard this, I wondered when and how Dream was going to handle all of that. Even though it's in beta, CC has a lot of breeds already! And thus, I came up with a unique style of voting inspired by my own school. How it works: I will list all of the caterpillars, then break them into categories based on their type. You have 6 numbers, you give a 6 to your favorite and a 1 to your least, and add everything in between. Since there are only two Keilen/Whemzels, you can give a 1 and 2 to the ones you want. You can also give a 1, 2, and 3 to whether you want adults, babies, or eggs done first. I know it's a little hard to understand at first, but once you see the actual list (which I have already voted on) it will be a bit easier to comprehend. Hopefully.
*Note that Dream DOES NOT have to do the caterpillars voted for here. It is merely to show her what the users want and what would be best for her to spend her time on.

Whoops - Okay, I believe I actually already clarified this, but I really do not have the time to update 200+ images especially considering that a few weeks later, I'll probably have adapted an even better style of art. O.o
Edit: I'm not shooting down this thread down, I'm just saying that I'm probably not going to use it until I've entered some "new" caterpillars into the system. If I simply focus on updating all the old images in one puff, I can almost guarantee that there won't be any updates in anything else until next year at the earliest. I don't intend to lie about the amount of time it took me to make all those images - about 2 years (and that was when I didn't have the issue of holding on to the user base and coding). Also, since the old art is on site themes/banners everywhere, I will have to redo all of those too. The images themselves aren't an issue, it's incorporating all the different updates into my hectic schedule.
However, if this is something you all really want an you guys really are the amazing user base I think you are and are willing to stick with me through this mess, I can see what I can do...
Here are a list of plans I can try to work with:
1. I can drop everything and focus on updating the old art. I may or may not have this done by the end of the year.
2. I plan to start focusing on releasing new bred critters, so instead of releasing 2 or so a time, I can release 1 new caterpillar and updating 1 old caterpillar.
3. If you have any other ideas, please tell me! :3
But please note that I will completely ignore anything that advises that I compromise my studies or sleep.

To be honest, I don't think any of them need to be redone really. I like the way they are. That's just my opinion though.

I'm going to bump this. Dream, I understand you can't update everything at once, but that's not really the suggestion here. Just do a few at a time. A big, massive overhaul is not required to get the art updated. Slow and steady wins the race, after all. I just think the new caterpillars are outdating the old ones. Also, with the site traffic declining so quickly, an update could not hurt. (Don't take that in any sort of wrong way. The old artwork isn't at all bad, it's just that if we started doing some updates people would take some more interest after activity stopped.)

I apologize for the lack of updates - the workload from school is heavier than I expected. I simply don't have enough time to really do anything at this point. I'll see what I can do to update some content, but I want to let everyone know that this won't be something that I'll be able to do easily or often. Edit: THe situation should improve once I can actually use something I need for a planned update after I finish a school project. >.< |
